Coming from where I come from, a small town called Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, I have never met taxi drivers so rude and ignorant as the ones in Johannesburg. I understand that there is bound to be a difference seeing as they are worlds apart but this was very shocking to me. First of all they expect you to be able to speak Zulu ,when they themselves cannot , I rephrase "WILL NOT" speak any other language other than their own, Most of these taxi drivers are not from Johannesburg but they have taken over the taxi industry and expect everyone else to jump when they say so. Johannesburg is not like Durban where most of population speak Zulu, there a lot of different people coming from different backgrounds and different ethnic groups but all this is not taken into consideration. A few days ago I had a fight with a taxi driver at KFC as I caught him squatting to look up my friend's skirt and so I confronted but seeing as he was not ashamed of what he had done we had an argument over it and he attempted to stab me. I am a very respectful person but there is a limit to it, just as there is a limit to everything. Not only was he too old to be doing such things, but he was also proud of what he had done, whether you are young or older such despicable behavior is intolerant. I could be blamed for generalizing but until I meet a taxi driver that behaves like a human being I will stick to the conclusion that I have come to and this is not to offend anyone.
